Well, it is Tuesday, but this is my five minute Friday free write. That is just the way this week has been ;). Anyway, I am joining Kate Motaung and others for the five minutes of writing link up on the prompt SAME. Ready Go:
We are not called to be the same. We have been created to rock the life we are in. Our personality, our spiritual gifts, and our stories both the bright and the dark are woven together to make something that is invariably unique. We are not called to be the same as each other, or the same as the world. And, yet, it is tempting, when the courage to be different weighs heavy.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2
A beautiful community is created by diversity. This means men and women, young and old, and black and white, plus brown, red, yellow or whatever other color people try to use to describe the flesh of another. The idea that a community could function locked into the small parameters of sameness is ludicrous, we don’t need more of the same, we need the different unified. Those who find unity in purpose, in heart, and in mind find power, this is best seen in its purest form in the Trinity (different functions, perfect unity).
If we fight to find unity while working towards this greatest power of the Almighty God, we may be blessed with a glimpse of the beauty sought after in the prayers of Jesus.
That they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. John 17:21
