Each day millions of parents send their kids off to school. They lift their wing of protection and send their offspring into the world to be exposed to who knows what, taught by who knows who, and left to learn to ride life without the proverbial training wheels. Each day, as we walk to the bus, I pray over my children. Will you join me in praying for the next generation today?
Thank you for my children. Please, guard and protect them as they go.
Teach them who they are in the light of who you are.
As they step onto the school grounds today:
May they understand the privilege of being able to seek education without opposition.
May they bring light to dark places, and hold hope tight when the dark is heavy.
May they comfortably stand in their own skin when others try to break them down.
May they persevere when tasks are daunting, and have the courage to accept challenges.
May their childlike faith in a Holy God continue to grow and sustain them.
Give them the energy to get through today, and give them success that they may glorify you with it.
Help them to learn to learn, and love to learn, so they will never stop being teachable.
Help them to listen to their teachers and be kind to others.
Help them to not be punks.
They are mine for now, but yours always.
Please, keep them safe.
In Jesus’ name,
“Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.”
