This year we have, yet again, seen vicious displays of racial prejudice and horrific discrimination. When the scriptures say that in heaven we will see,
“a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb,” Revelations 7:9
I long to see a piece of heaven here on earth, and I am willing to ask God to show me how I can.
Don’t let us offend you by allowing racial injustice to thrive.
Help us all to be more like Jesus, who reconciles the Jew and the Gentile, the Asian and Latino, the Black and the White.
Help us to stand with those who are oppressed and wronged for no reason except the color of their skin.
Help us to see how we can help bear the burdens and share in the joys of all brothers and sisters in Christ.
Let us not to be so arrogant to think that one race alone can fix the problems present, but help us all to humbly stand together to see reconciliation rise.
May we be willing to talk about the real, the hard, and the true, and to search for voices that push us out of our comfort zones instead of listening to ones that reinforce apathy.
Help us to speak the truth with fierce love and to be boldly compassionate.
I want the things of you Jesus, and I am willing to fight for them.
Show me how.
In Jesus Name,
